Wine Review: This golden yellow colored Chardonnay from ZD is excellent! It opens with a fragrant pineapple, mango and oak bouquet with coconut flakes and Bosc pear. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, rich, and intense. The flavor profile is a concentrated apricot and oak blend with notes of vanilla, pineapple, and buttered popcorn. I also detected hints of lime zest and honey-caramelized pear. The finish is dry, and its flavors are very extended. I would just drink this Chard with lover's rich-styled California Chardonnay. With food, it paired very well with a lobster and corn chowder. Winemaker Notes: We are excited to release our 2021 Carneros Reserve Chardonnay! This ZD Carneros Reserve Chardonnay is a blend from several certified organic vineyards, including ZD’s own Carneros Estate. The 2021 displays elegant flavors of baked pear, lime, honeysuckle, and dried apricot are hallmarks of this wine. With notes of rich, creamy vanilla and subtle molasses, the palate is as ripe as it is unctuous. The well-balanced wine leads into a beautiful, lingering finish. Only 32 barrels were produced.
