Wine Review: This dark red colored Zin opens with a black raspberry bouquet with notes of black pepper. On the palate, this Zin is medium bodied, balanced, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe black raspberry with notes of black pepper and strawberry rhubarb. The finish is dry and it still has its substantial lingering tannins which were ever present in many 2005 Zins. This wine will go strong for several more years. CA Wine Club is selling this Zin for $11 per bottle. Stock up for your next barbecue and grill some fatty ribs and enjoy! – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Old Vine Zinfandel shows wonderful dusty raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice, with coffee and chocolate characters. Aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the explosive fruit notes. Enjoy this wine presently for its effusive black fruit, or cellar for 5 to 7 years.
