Wine Review: This bright red colored Pinot Noir from Tolosa was one of our top wines in a recent mini-blind tasting we conducted. It opens with a funky damp wood and truffle bouquet with hints of black cherry. Some aggressive swirling is necessary for its aromas to settle in nicely. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and elegant. The flavor profile is a tasty mild cherry-cola with notes of nicely integrated oak. We also detected hints of strawberry and white tea mixed in. The finish is dry and its flavors and silky tannins are nicely prolonged. The group thought this Pinot would pair well with Peking duck. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Bright red cherry color. Aromas of starfruit, rose petals, graphite, tar, charred beef bark and green tobacco. Flavors of baked cranberry, orange rind and dried tobacco. This wine is well-structured with a velvety texture that evolves into showcasing notes of cranberry juice that allows the bright acidity to come through on the finish.
