Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Edna Valley opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of plum and sarsaparilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, shows elevated acidity and is very juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe red plum with integrated minerality throughout. I also detected notes of black pepper and blackberry jam. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity shows very nice length. This Pinot is very good. I would pair it with pan roasted duck breast. Winemaker Notes: Primera is our flagship wine, a cellar selection of the best barrels of Pinot Noir from our Edna Ranch. Aromas of black cherry, black plum, and black currant along with floral notes of violet and a hint of crushed stones. Harmonious flavors of blackberry preserves, anise, and huckleberry with a stunningly rich mid-palate, well integrated tannins, and notes of graphite on the finish.
