Wine Review: This slightly opaque and ruby colored Grenache and Syrah based wine from Thacher opens with a lingonberry and mulberry bouquet with hints of clove and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, juicy, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a stewed red plum and raspberry blend with notes of cinnamon, clove, and rhubarb. We also picked up some hints of strawberry and chalky minerality. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins and flavors show very nice length. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a lamb lollipops. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Always the first wine constructed during blending trials, and arguably one of our most important wines. The vast majority of the vineyards contributing to the wine are from the calcareous loam soils of Paso Robles. The exception is the Syrah from Coast View Vineyards in Monterey County.
