Wine Review: This deep purple colored Merlot based blend from Italy opens with a cedar plank and black plum bouquet with hints of fig, bay leaf and warming winter spices like nutmeg and cinnamon stick. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. We also found it to be juicy and fresh. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced spiced red plum and dried cherry blend with hints of anise, oregano, espresso, cranberry cocktail juice and fig. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate dusty tannins are nicely prolonged. We would pair this with duck confit, or a grilled flank steak marinated in Ken’s Italian Dressing. Enjoy – KWGTP
