Wine Review: This ruby colored Cabernet Franc is quite a gem. It opens with a pomegranate bouquet with a hint of RC cola. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and silky smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry with notes of blueberry. I also detected a hint of minerality, pomegranate, and touch of oak. The finish is dry and its acidity and flavors nicely. This Cab Franc was the clear winner in our recent mini-tasting. It would pair well with a herb-encrusted rack of lamb. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Cabernet Franc is one of the more intensely interesting of varieties that we work with. In the nose the wine is replete with aromatic richness: earth, sandalwood, white and black pepper, and floral notes reminiscent of the Loire Valley. In the mouth, however, the wine has significant richness and viscosity through the midpalate; the finish is a bit on the austere side, especially in its youth, but it goes on forever. With bottle age, this wine will both open up and grow richer. I expect it to reach its prime in 3-7 years and age well for a decade. Hurry - only 48 cases of this stunning wine were produced. Drink from 2015 – 2020.
