Wine Review: This opaque and onyx colored Syrah from Washington State impressed our panel. It opens with a saddle leather like bouquet with notes of black raspberry and plum in the background. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a juicy black currant with notes of plum and boysenberry. We also picked up some mild smoky oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins drift away nicely. The panel suggested that this really good Syrah would pair perfectly with a ribeye steak. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: John Duval, formerly of Australia's iconic Penfolds Grange, chose the Columbia Valley as his "Sequel" for the continuation of his life's work with Syrah Opaque and blue-ish purple in color, this is an expressive wine offering vibrant aromas of sweet dark fruits, grilled meats and freshly roasted chestnuts. Dark cherry flavors laced with notes of nutmeg and savory spice are framed by refined tannins and a delicate acidity that lingers on the finish.
