Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Tempranillo based wine from Rioja opens with a cigar box and fig bouquet with a hint of peat moss. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is juicy plum and red cherry blend with notes of fig and loamy earth. I also detected hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and fruit flavors drift away nicely. I would pair this Tempranillo with a lamb burger. Enjoy – Ken
