Wine Review: This very dark colored young Cab was described by one panelist (me) as hedonistic. Another called it luscious. It opens with a fragrant ripe blackberry liquor like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and concentrated. The flavor profile is an extracted ripe blackberry with notes of black currant. The panel also detected slight hints of anise, vanilla, and cinnamon as well. The finish is dry and its tannins are nicely prolonged. The panel felt that this wine would pair well with beef stroganoff or duck. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This offering has typical black cherry and tea-like aromas, indicative of Alexander Valley Cabernet, but with nice shades of vanilla and toasty oak. Although this wine is not as plush or jammy as previous vintages, it has a silky texture with abundant black cherry fruit that makes it quite appealing now. It was crafted to be more elegant than powerful. It finishes soft with complex, earthy soil flavors. This wine is a joy to drink now, but will become more multi faceted aromatically and even more delicious and elegant with additional bottle age.
