Wine Review: This offering from the Wagner family is a pretty dark garnet color. It opens with a ripe cherry and strawberry bouquet with some campfire notes and wet gravel in the background. The palate continues with loads of extracted ripe dark fruit, a medium-plus body with medium acidity. It also has a velvety mouthfeel. It is made in the bold style for Pinot Noir, but it is still approachable. I found flavors of black plum and black cherry, along with some notes of Dr. Pepper, smoked meat and black tea. There are gentle tannins in the long finish, which has a hint of oak and is slightly spicy and warm. It would go well with smoked brisket from your favorite BBQ shack. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: A bountiful deep red, this wine features scents of baked cherries, toasted wood and fresh out of the oven baguette, with hints of cranberry and flinty graphite. On the palate, there is an intensity and creaminess to the fruit, evoking the ripe richness of pie filling. Toasted oak and vanilla add intriguing layers, while grippy tannins create depth and dimension. The finish tapers off with this wine's lush fruit.
