Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Carmenère from Santa Rita opens with a black raspberry and black olive bouquet with hints of cherry Twizzler, and dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, polished, clean, and fresh. The flavor profile is a gentle black plum, blueberry, and stone dust blend with hints of pastry crust and mild black licorice. The finish is dry, and its moderate dusty tannins are nicely sustained. The Panel would pair this Carmenère with a grilled hanger steak or with an oxtail stew. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Pewen de Apalta has a deep purple carmine-red color, the wine is bright and dense. The nose is complex, combining notes of graphite, black cherry, tobacco, and sweet spices enriched by a mineral touch. The mouth is concentrated and precise with juicy and rounded tannins with a velvety mouthfeel of blackberries and ripe plums. This wine has a balanced freshness with a long and persistent finish.
