Wine Review: This Cabernet Sauvignon based wine Rowen is terrific! It opens with gentle black currant and mild black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, nicely balanced, refined and graceful for a Cabernet Sauvignon. The flavor profile is a graphite influenced black licorice and blackberry blend with notes of gentle oak, spice and mild black cherry. I also detected hints of black olive and espresso in the background. The finish is fantastic as its refined well-managed dry tannins stick around for a very long time. This Cab evolves nicely with some aeration. It will match nicely with a porterhouse steak as it can balance nicely between the two pieces of meat in the cut. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: 2040 is a lush and elegant wine consisting of high-elevation, mountain fruit with aromas of violet, blueberry and black cherry. The palate is rich with sweet oak and a hint of spice with a velvety smooth, lingering finish and well-integrated tannins. Pairs with a grilled filet mignon, braised beef short ribs and sharp cheeses.
