Wine Review: This wine was a crowd pleaser at a recent dinner party that I attended. It was light yellow colored and opens with a mild apricot bouquet with a hint of orange peel. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and fruity. The flavor profile is an orange and lime blend with a hint of honey. The finish is off dry and a touch metallic. Although not a dessert wine, the group thought its gentle hint of sweetness would allow it to pair well with desserts. My choice was a peach cobbler. Enjoy – Ken.
Winemaker Notes: The style of this wine is rooted in the Condrieu region of France, where Viognier thrives. Opening with seductive aromas of honeysuckle and exotic fruit, the wine develops with good body and clean, angular flavors of fresh pear, apple and tropical fruit, touched by a hint of minerality. Supple and silky, the layers of fruit glide across the palate, finishing with bright crispness. The high aromas, clean lines and fruit-forward nature of this wine pair well with spicy Asian cuisines such as Thai or Vietnamese.
