Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored Zin was very well received by our tasting panel. It opens with a black cherry bouquet with a hint of oak and black pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a smoky oak infused black raspberry with notes of black pepper. The finish is dry and its tannins build up and linger for quite a while. The panel thought this Zin would be a great match with seasoned pork tenderloin or a veal chop. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A deep, purple hue leads ultra-ripe blackberry, boysenberry, briar and cocoa aromas in our 2007 Rockpile Road Zinfandel. Across the midpalate, a complex layering of rich, dark fruit develops, balanced by complex wood tannins that flank the tongue and pick up bright currant notes through the lengthy finish. "A wine with shoulders," explains Winemaker John Kane. "It makes an excellent companion to similarly brazen flavors such as osso bucco, braised short ribs or herb-encrusted rack of lamb."
