Wine Review: This Charbono from Robert Foley is terrific! It opens with a black raspberry and black cherry bouquet with hints of mild cedar, wet gravel, and fresh mint. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, very smooth, concentrated, and rich. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and oak blend with notes of stone dust, black plum, and black olive. We also detected hints of oolong tea, blueberry, and cardamom. The finish is dry, and its flavors and polished dusty tannins are nicely extended. We would pair this Charbono with Brazilian picanha steak or with shepherd's pie. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The aromas exude character reminiscent of raspberry and cassis. The medium body evenly excites the palate with perfect alcohol and natural acid balance. Tannins are very soft, giving this delightfully drinkable Charbono a lingering finish. The varietal character is well-defined, without the confusion of new oak. Very dark and soft as the name indicates: Carbon Water. We are so thankful to have harvested this fruit two days before the fires of 2020. Our grower took a bottle home from the bottling line and exclaimed it is the best vintage he can remember – and this family has been growing Charbono for more than 100 years.
