Wine Review: This opaque and midnight blue colored Malbec opens with a ripe black cherry bouquet with hints of Chambord black raspberry liqueur. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, ripe and very juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of minerality. I also detected hints of black cherry, anise, and a touch of oak. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and minerality linger for quite some time after the wines is gone. This fruit bomb styled Malbec would be a good fireplace wine to enjoy on a cool night this fall. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Recuerdo Aliado is cultivated in the Uco Valley, which is situated on the eastern side of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza. The fruit for this pure expression of Malbec is hand-sorted for its superiority and aged in select French oak barrels for 22 months. Dark and intense in color, the wine opens with concentrated aromatics of rich cherry, blackberry, and plum. The vivid flavor profile boasts dark fruit, licorice, and violet, with fresh acidity and a round, lush mouthfeel. The finish is persistant in length.
