Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Syrah from the Sonoma Coast is impressive. It opens with a pleasant and attractive mild blackberry bouquet with some hints of leather and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, round and a little juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty mild mineral influenced blackberry and vanilla oak blend with hints of licorice, beef jerky and black pepper. The finish is dry and its fruit shows a nice burst towards the end. Tannins are moderate and do not get in the way. This cool climate Syrah is gentle for the varietal and food friendly. Not at all over the top. I decant it a bit in the early years as it did get better after opened for a while. I would pair it with beef stroganoff. Enjoy – Ken
