Wine Review: Nothing like starting out with a bang on a first release affordable Pinot Gris from a sister brand of Elk Cove Vineyards! This light bodied Pinot Gris opens with an inviting fruit and floral bouquet including light pineapple, pear and light rose petal. I also detected hints of guava. The color is basically clear with a slight straw tint. The palate is fresh, slightly dry, smooth, crisp and includes flavors of pineapples, apricots, and hints of guava. This Willamette Valley offering is very versatile and food friendly with nice texture, acidity and balance. This pleasing Pinot Gris finishes with a nice mouth coating dry pink grapefruit that fades away nicely. I would pair this Pinot Gris with succulent plump scallops wrapped in bacon and drizzled with pure maple syrup. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of tropical fruit, early peach and lemon meringue pie lead to a juicy, refreshing mouthful of citrus, lychee and baking spice. A subtle suggestion of woodsy autumn leaves complements a rich and rounded texture that ends with a zip of tart green apple.
