Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Gamay from Moulin a Vent is very good. It opens with fragrant dusty cedar, pomegranate and craisin bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, round and juicy. The flavor profile is a stewed red plum with notes of graphite and oak. I also detected hints of black raspberry and strawberry rhubarb. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This impressive Gamay is food friendly and would pair very nicely with Coq au vin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Moulin a Vent lives up to its reputation as "fruity like Beaujolais and charming like Burgundy." The pink granite terroir imparts very specific flavors into the wine—mineral, fruit (raspberries, licorice) and some floral notes (violet, rose). It is fleshy and powerful with a mineral tension due to manganese. The palate, which is rich and elegant, yet fresh, is very well integrated and beautifully structured. Although enjoyable in its youth it shows a great aging potential.
