Wine Review: This pitch black colored Syrah is very good and could fool blind tasters into thinking it is from Barossa. It opens with a very inviting black licorice bouquet with hints of blackberry and black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, dense and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted black raspberry with notes of black plum. I also detected hints of vanilla oak, mild minerality, ripe blackberry and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors and well manage moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This Syrah is food friendly and ideal for a winter evening by the fireplace. With food, I would serve it with grilled steak tips. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Rich and intense from the very beginning, our 2012 Syrah opens with fruit and spice aromas of sarsaparilla, raspberry, plum, and cherry. A swirl and sip reveals deeper aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, game, and vanilla bean. A round and full-bodied structure ends on a long, tantalizing finish with the promise of much more to come.
