Wine Review: This yellow colored Chardonnay from Paul Hobbs is Excellent and is one of the best Chards that we have covered lately. It opens with an attractive ripe Bartlett pear bouquet with hints of new oak and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, rich and balanced. The flavor profile is a tasty butterscotch and pear blend with hints of pineapple, tangerines and oak. The finish is dry and its flavors last for a very long time. I would pair this rich Chard with lobster bisque. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Edward James Estate, named for Paul's great-grandfather, is planted to chardonnay from the heritage selections Bato and Wente. Deep golden straw in color, the wine has lifted aromas of yellow apple, freshly cut pear, lemon oil, vanilla almond butter and wet stone. Rich, round and focused on the palate, layers of ripe fruit continue to emerge through the bright and mineral driven finish.
