Wine Review: This midnight purple colored offering from Priorat opens with a port like bouquet featuring fig, rum and black cherries with hints of new leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with plus acidity. It is also an unreconciled mix of dry tannins and juicy fruits. Those fruits are a mild blackberry and fig blend with notes of banana and red plum. We also detected some crushed stone, oak, black olive, prune and expresso mixed in. The finish is quite dry and its very big grippy tannins build-up and stick around for a very long time. This wine needs decanting and a well-marbled ribeye steak. While this wine is not for everyone, those that like this bold style will like it a lot. Enjoy – Ken & Dave
Winemaker Notes: Finca La Planeta is six acres of mature Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in the gravelly mountain terroir. Aged 14 months in French and Central European oak. Concentration of all factors is evident. It features minerals, herbs, black fruit and oak spice. Distinctively clear-cut and elegant style for Priorat.
