Wine Review: The 2015 Parducci “True Grit” Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino was a test in patience. On the nose, the wine has your typical Cabernet Sauvignon notes of leather, black currant. blackberry, hints of cedar, and a dash of clove. However, the first sips throw you off as the wine barely makes a splash on the palate. Mild flavors of berry fruits and a hint of vanilla are about it. That being said, after a couple of days of being covered and partially filled in the bottle, the wine finally showed up. Leather, cassis, blackberries, and hints of eucalyptus were all well-pronounced flavors. The finish was medium length and a bit dusty with just a splash of acidity to give an ode to the fact that the fruit is from Mendocino. A valiant wine. – Nicolay
Winemaker Notes: Our 2015 True Grit Cabernet Sauvignon is notably juicy! It opens up with flavors of current and dark cherry followed by subtle olive tapenade. Its structure is supported by a solid yet round tannin profile and a lingering vanilla bean finish.
