Wine Review: I was recently stuck in an airport again and had the pleasure of covering a glass of this wine at a Vino Volo while waiting. It is opaque and almost black in color. It opens with a mild blackberry bouquet with a hint of blueberry and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, and soft. The flavor profile is blackberry and black licorice with notes of black currant and black pepper. There was even hint of oak toward the end. As you can see it is pretty complex. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are slightly prolonged. This paired quite well with my black bean and braised pork taco. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The primary source for this intense and lovely wine is Dr. Steve Elerding's vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills, where the proximity of the Columbia River is a vital part of the success of these traditional Rhone varietals. This wine is very dark with ripe stone fruit flavors, pepper and an excellent texture.
