Wine Review: I was recently asked to try this golden colored Chard and we were extremely pleased. This Chard opens with a mild cantaloupe like bouquet with a hint of mango and apricot. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very nicely balanced, rich, and creamy. The flavor profile is a palate coating mild Meyer lemon and green apple blend. The finish is dry and has a touch of lingering oak. This being a 2005Chard, I can’t believe there is still some of this very tasty wine around. If you find some, we would pair this solid effort with some lobster bisque. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: In 2005, there was a small crop. Less than one ton per acre. As a result the ripeness was effortless. Complex orchard fruit aromas of peach-nectarine combine with the more typical lemon-earthanise profile that is associated with our Estate Chardonnay. Good acidity and total dryness drive the compelling finish. Youthful and vibrant, this wine is drinking well but will be even better in two to ten more years.
