Wine Review: This pale garnet colored Pinot Noir from Minus Tide was very well received. It opens with a musty strawberry and black raspberry bouquet with hints of smoky oak, nutmeg, and clove. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and savory. The flavor profile is a tart black plum and pomegranate blend with notes of rhubarb, vanilla and integrated oak. We also detected hints of black tea, cherry, orange zest and a dash of black pepper mixed in. It concludes with its flavors and moderate dry tannins that lead to a lovely lingering finish. This Pinot Noir would pair very nicely with a roasted pork with sage, rosemary, and garlic with butternut squash and Brussels sprouts, shrimp and grits or Hog Island barbecued oysters.
