Wine Review: This midnight purple colored fruit bomb from Michael David captured the attention of the tasting panel and scored rather well. It opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of menthol, black currant and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and very smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with notes of integrated oak and faint minerality. We also detected hints of strawberry and spiced plum. The finish is dry and its fruit and velvety tannins are nicely prolonged. The panel suggested pairing this fruity Cab with a New York strip steak with a dollop of blue cheese butter or prime rib. Winemaker Notes: Rapture holds its own against higher priced Cabernets from other regions. It drinks like a lush vintage of Bordeaux, offering abundant structure, deep color and ample fruit with gentle tannins. The mid-palate delivers blackberry, some smoke, chocolate and espresso. Rapture has a lovely, velvety mouth feel, and a long, intense finish.
