Wine Review: This straw-colored Semillon from Merriam opens with an Anjou pear and quince bouquet with hints of vanilla and chamomile tea. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel balanced, round and slightly viscous. The flavor profile is a quince and mild vanilla blend with notes of pear and saline. I also detected hints of juniper, oak, and papaya in the mix. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This Semillon would pair well with Emeril's crab cakes. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This beautiful wine showcases just how exemplary a semillon can be. The very light golden color invites you in to smell the fresh floral bouquet. Aged in 10% acacia, which brings a brighter note to the wine, on the palate this semillon introduces tangerine crème brûlée and creamy vanilla.
