Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merriam opens with a black raspberry and potting soil bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a spiced black plum and craisin blend with notes of oak and black raspberry. I also detected some hints of earthy loam in the mix. The finish is dry and its firm tannins for a Pinot, stick around for a very long time. I would decant this hearty Pinot as it mellows nicely with some aeration. Then I would serve it with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Pinot Noir has a velvety elegance that translates seamlessly from nose to palate. On the nose there are aromas fresh berries, cinnamon bark, and amber, followed by notes of cranberry, soft leather, potting soil and touches of nutmeg.
