Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Petit Verdot from Merriam opens with a fragrant cedar, lilac, and black cherry bouquet with a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and juicy. The flavor profile is a black plum and cedar plank blend with notes of gentle blackberry and cinnamon. I also detected some hints of stony minerality in the mix. The finish is dry and its gentle tannins for this varietal, drift away nicely. This Petit Verdot is more restrained and friendlier than most. It can be paired with a filet mignon in the near term. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A luxurious full bodied red wine with velvety notes of dark cherry, violets and sandalwood on the nose. These notes are echoed on the palate with the addition of plum, lilacs, and firm tannins.
