Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored “limited-edition” wine from Merriam opens with a black currant and boysenberry bouquet with hints of red licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, fruit forward juicy and has nice round edges. The flavor profile is extracted boysenberry and red currant blend with notes of menthol, cherry and anise. There is nicely integrated oak and some hints of dark chocolate and sage. The finish is dry and is moderate tannins linger for an extended period of time. This wine will benefit from some decanting in the near term. I would pair with your favorite grilled steak cut. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Right Bank Blend reflects the world class Merlot blends found in the Bordeaux region in France. With Merlot from Windacre Vineyard and Malbec from Alexander Valley this Sonoma County Red Blend shows a bright, rich purple rim. Elegant with light notes of raspberry, cherry, lemon zest on the nose. Fruit forward, well balanced blend with cocoa and vanilla finish.
