Wine Review: It is very difficult to produce a single varietal Petit Verdot. Merriam has done it again! This pitch-black colored Petit Verdot from the 2014 vintage is very impressive! It opens with an inviting blueberry bouquet with a hint of dark chocolate and touch of prune. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, super smooth and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a gentle mild mineral infused gentle blackberry with notes of blueberry and plum. I also detected some hints of black tea. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins build up and stick around for quite a long time. This Petit Verdot would be perfect with Roy’s famous rib roast. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep, dark, spice with highly concentrated flavors of black fruit and bacon. Tightly wound and packed with intense flavor and structure. The palate has rich tannins and aged wood on the finish. 100% Petite Verdot, this is a "big" wine that will age well if you are so inclined. if you can’t wait, this will pair well with a hearty BBQ. Bordeaux lovers will be attracted by its depth and ability to age.
