Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark garnet colored Cabernet Franc from Merriam opens with an appealing boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and easy going. The flavor profile is a mild pomegranate and red plum blend with notes of minerality throughout. I also detected a hint of cranberry and cinnamon as well. The finish is dry and its medium tannins and flavors fade away nicely. This Cab Franc is food friendly and really balances out nicely with a little air and swirling. I would pair this with Hungarian goulash. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The color graduates from dark purple to magenta along the edge. This wine has an elegant fragrance of pomegranate, warm berry pie, black currant and baking spices. Pomegranate dances across the palate with a hint of black currant, black raspberry and cassis. Medium tannins, youthful acidity with notes of vanilla and chocolate. Long lingering finish.
