Wine Review: This opaque and midnight blue colored Petit Verdot from Merriam is terrific! It opens with a very attractive blueberry jam bouquet and a hint of blackberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and very rich. The flavor profile is a delicious blackberry with notes of black current and licorice. I also detected hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its medium tannins make it food friendly now. This Petit Verdot would pair well with a New York strip steak. If you love Petit Verdot, this is a great example of how well it can be made. (Available via the wine club or at the winery only) Enjoy – Ken
