Wine Review: This pitch black colored Malbec from Washington State opens with a faint black cherry and black tea bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, round and rich. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry and red cherry-cola blend with notes of nicely integrated vanilla oak with a hint of minerality, peppermint and dash of nutmeg. This is a pretty complex Malbec. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins stick around for a while. This is a very impressive Malbec. I would pair it with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Brothers Robert Mercer and Willis Mercer own and operate Mercer Wine Estates. As third generation farmers, this newest label embodies that spirit and the wine within is a beautiful celebration of their hard work and terroir of their land. An intoxicating combination of dark fruit, violets and wet stone blend harmoniously in the nose. Velvety tannins frame the fruit, providing supple structure. the result is a wine that is powerfully elegant. Pair with grilled steak with aioli sauce, lamb burgers, or mushroom ravioli with cream sauce.
