Wine Review: This light straw-colored Verdelho opens with a rich floral nose with notes of pineapple, papaya and banana. On the palate, it is light bodied and displays gentle acidity. The flavor profile is a subtle ruby red grapefruit and other mild tropical fruits. The finish is pleasantly dry and drifts away nicely. This unusual grape varietal is an easy summer sipper. We would pair this Verdelho with grilled shrimp marinated in tequila, lime juice, garlic and cilantro. - Karen and Stuart
Winemaker Notes: Pronounced "Ver-del-oh". It is a wine that originates from Portugal, where it is commonly used in the great Madeira fortified wines. It has also been popular in Australia as a dry, white wine for many years. Our version is the latter, a dry white wine. It is a fun, fruity wine characterized by aromas of tropical fruits and lime, but balanced with great acidity. This wine will pair beautifully with a patio, a beach, or anything summery.
