Wine Review: Opaque and deep ruby. Almost black in color, this Primitivo presents with violet floral, sweet tobacco, ground tamarind and vanilla bean aromas. On the palate, the wine is very full-bodied with plump black fig and ripe black currant flavors up front, followed by dark chocolate and warm cherry preserves. The oak is well-managed, and the tannins are powerful but tamed, resulting in a well-rounded and balanced wine with good structure and complexity. The finish is smooth and the intense flavors last for a considerable time. This is a compelling value Primitivo that would vie for praise among wines at three to four times its price. Pair it with pasta and veal Bolognese or your favorite tomato-based pizza. – Jeoff
Winemaker Notes:
Color: Deep and dull ruby red.
Bouquet: The nose reveals full, intense aromas reminiscent of plums and red fruit jam with sweet spicy notes.
Flavor: A wine with considerable body, the palate is enveloping, warm and soft and expresses very ripe fruit, backed by a pleasurable backbone of sweet tannins.
