Wine Review: This approachable Chilean Carmenere is a brilliant deep purple color. The intense nose is filled with ripe black plum, green pepper, chocolate, vanilla, blueberry, chili, and smoked meat aromas. On the palate, it is full bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, but not jammy. I found flavors of blueberry, blackberry, bell pepper, cassis, dark roast coffee, light smoke, and black pepper. Fine grained tannins are nicely integrated in the fresh and long finish. Great to have on hand when the weather warms up a bit and you can fire up the smoker. This food friendly Carmenere would go well with smoked beef brisket. – Mark
Winemaker Notes: Deep dark red in color, with the classic profile of Carmenere from Peumo, with intense notes of ripe plums, black currants, and dark chocolate, along with firm tannic structure and pronounced acidity.
