Wine Review: This dark red colored Beaujolais from the Morgon commune opens with a classic blackberry and potting soil bouquet with hints of strawberry and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, mouthwatering and savory. The flavor profile is an earthy loam and strawberry blend with notes of black plum and red licorice. I also detected some hints of red raspberry tea and craisin towards the end. The finish is dry, and its mild dusty tannins linger for a while before drifting away nicely. I would pair this Gamay with a beef and lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 Morgon Cote du Py shares a bouquet of high-toned red cherry notes lead to dried raspberry, spice and floral notes. The palate has a vivid minerally undertone with layers of rhubarb and cranberry, and a refreshing finish.
