Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Mendocino opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla oak and strawberry rhubarb. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty raspberry and strawberry blend with notes of cola in the background. I also detected a hint of red plum and dash of black pepper in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. This Pinot is food friendly and would pair nicely with Colorado lamb chops with an herb marinade, soft polenta with wild mushrooms, and a hibiscus glaze. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir is our premium Pinot Noir. This four-clone blend produces a beautifully deep ruby-garnet color with a hint of aromas of bay leaf and thyme. Succulent pomegranate and Bing cherry fruit leads to a long, flavorful finish on the palate. While this rich and vibrant Pinot Noir is delicious at your next dinner party, it will also continue to develop greater complexity with another 3-5 years of bottle aging. This Pinot Noir pairs perfectly with wild mushrooms, braised beef and roasted chicken.
