Wine Review: This dark red colored Zinfandel from Mendocino opens with an RC Cola bouquet with hints of black raspberry, strawberry and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a tart black cherry and vanilla oak blend with notes of cola and red velvet cake. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins drift away nicely. The panel suggested pairing this Zin with beef brisket. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Zinfandel is the second release from grapes grown at Mariah Vineyards on Mendocino Ridge. The wine has currant and jammy blackberry aromas that burst forward at the first whiff, and remain juicy and supple in the mouth. Traces of herbs and spice highlight the clearly defined fruit. The finish of the wine is lush and dense without being heavy in any way; it is simply full of brightness and vitality. True to its mountain origins, the wine is dark, rich and full-bodied! Our 2013 Zinfandel pairs perfectly with lamb chops, duck breast, and grilled ribs and sausages.
