Wine Review: This slightly hazy and dark garnet colored Zinfandel from Limerick Lane opens with a strawberry and cedar bouquet with hints of nutmeg, clay, and peonies. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, mouthwatering, and savory. The flavor profile is a mild black currant and cinnamon tea blend with notes of stony minerality and gentle black cherry. We also detected hints of saline and black plum. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and prominent dusty tannins linger for a bit. The Tasting Panel would decant this young Zin in the near term as it benefits from aeration. Then pair it with lamb chops or steak fajitas. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Ricci Vineyard (Planted in the 1940’s) – This 10 acre vineyard was planted by the Ricci family and is adjacent to the Limerick Lane vineyard planted by the Del Fava family in 1910. This was the property Karen bought in 2005 to stay connected to the winery and begin her own journey back to Limerick Lane. I’ve admired the blocks that are adjacent to our coveted 1910 Block as I've walked our vineyard and wondered if we could ever get some of the fruit. As fate would have it, I now get to work with all of the six blocks of old vine Zinfandel and I’m stoked about the quality and potential. 2022 is the first vintage and it shows a polish and depth with the same structure as the 1910 Block next door. This block will be a cornerstone in our portfolio for years to come. Stay tuned!
