Wine Review: This dark red colored Zinfandel from Limerick Lane really impressed the Tasting Panel for the second year in a row. It opens with a faint raspberry bouquet with hints of dark chocolate, strawberry, lavender, and mushroom. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is very nicely balanced, plush, and smooth as silk. The flavor profile is a blend of gentle acai berry and stone dust blend with notes of black raspberry. We also detected hints of plum, candied violets, and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this food friendly and impressive Zin with a filet mignon or a glazed pork chop. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: After a stellar debut in 2021, I was a bit nervous that this might be a one a “one-hit wonder.” Thankfully, this wasn’t the case, and after another great vintage, we are convinced that Maffei is capable of stellar old vine Zinfandel. Planted in 1942, It is revealing a classic Russian River Valley style with vibrant color, bright acidity, and tons of brambly dark fruits.
