Wine Review: This red colored Zinfandel from Limerick Lane is excellent! It opens with a red plum and marionberry bouquet with hints of mild fruitcake, salumi, and river stone. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, seamless, and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty red plum and gentle fruitcake blend with notes of red raspberry and cedar. We also detected hints of crushed stone, black pepper, and green tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins stick around for a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Zin with Stuart’s steak treats or steak tips at your favorite bistro. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Dating back to the 1880s, Banfield stands as one of the Russian River's truly historic sites. It boasts exquisite red fruit flavors complemented by vibrant acidity. Every year I look forward to the Zinfandel that this iconic site brings to the cellar. I marvel how it gets ample ripeness while being planted in one of the cooler western pockets of the Russian River Valley, alongside Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. As a result of its cooler clime, it is picked later with a pronounced natural acidity that complements red and blue fruit profiles that linger on the palate. It has an elegance coupled with a density that is hard to describe but a joy to drink.
