Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Leo Steen takes on a European persona. It opens with a new leather and cedar bouquet with hints of eucalyptus and band aid. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is cedar influenced black plum and stony minerality blend with notes of boysenberry and cinnamon. I also detected hints of menthol, nutmeg, and green olive. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty moderate tannins are nicely extended. This Cab is initially tight and benefits from some extended decanting. Then I would pair it with a New York strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is showcasing the elegant and savory expression of mountain grown Cabernet while inviting aromas of black cherry, blueberries, and cocoa powder. The juicy pallet echoes black fruits with hints of black olives, herbs de Provence and floral notes. This sleek wine is loaded with personality and firm tannins which makes it a candidate for long term cellaring.
