Wine Review: This midnight violet colored Cabernet Sauvignon from down under is a bit of a fruit bomb. It opens with a black currant bouquet with hints of black cherry, coconut and dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, savory and expressive. The flavor profile is a ripe plum with notes of minerality and black raspberry. I also detected hints of toasted coconut and touch of tart cherry. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and fruit fade away nicely. This Cab would pair well with braised beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Vibrant and concentrated fruit aroma of abundant blackcurrant, dark cherries and mulberry. Beneath the lifted aromatics of anise, cocoa, clove, black olive and earthy wild field mushroom provide elegant layers to a highly expressive and complex nose. Structure and fruit weight work harmoniously on the palate, characterized by a dark fruit core of blackcurrant and forest fruits. Savory spices of dried sage, cassia bark, and tobacco gives subtle texture, and combines with diligent oak integration and a fine acid line. All components arrive to a finish featuring slightly chalky cocoa powder-like tannins.
