Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Tempranillo opens with a prune, old oak, and black cherry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a mineral infused black currant with notes of black olive and oak. I also detected a hint of black licorice and black pepper. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are a little bit sticky. This wine benefits from some aeration and would pair well with sautéed veal medallions with shiitake mushrooms in a marsala reduction sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine represents both modern and traditional expressions of Tempranillo in a classic vintage from the Duero Valley. With intense aromas of black minerals, wild forest berries and balsamic undertones, this wine is ample and concentrated on the palate with smooth tannins, a creamy texture and a very long finish. A seductive and approachable wine that is ready to drink or save, it is the perfect reflection of the great potential of the old vineyards from the esteemed Duero Valley.
