Wine Review: This very very dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley is really good! It opens with an attractive mild boysenberry and black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a delicious mild ripe red plum with notes of gentle cherry-cola. I also detected a hint of strawberry licorice and spice. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are sticky and nicely prolonged. This Pinot is food friendly and would pair well with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Between two ridges in the hills above Boonville, Mendocino County, sits Lazy Creek’s newest ranch, Middleridge, in Anderson Valley. The 2013 Lazy Creek Middleridge Ranch Pinot Noir is lush with aromas and flavors of maple, juicy black cherry, cola, boysenberry and pomegranate with hints of floral, spice, licorice and anise. This wine’s smooth texture is complemented by bright acidity, a rich mid-palate and a lingering finish.
