Wine Review: This greenish yellow colored Chardonnay from Lafond opens with a tropical fruit bouquet featuring mango, pineapple, and papaya with hints of Mandarin orange and green apple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. We found it to be crisp with a lush mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a mixture of nectarine, mandarin orange, pineapple, Meyer lemon iced tea and pear. Those fruits are mixed with stony minerality, butter, vanilla and oak. It is a pretty complex blend of flavors. The finish is pleasant and bright with lively yet well-integrated acidity. We recommend pairing this Chard with baked scallops or red snapper. - Karen & Stuart
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is a golden hay color with mild aromas of lemon zest, cantaloupe, and jasmine. Flavors of crisp pear, crushed gravel, and almond complete the palate. This bright Chardonnay pairs well with shrimp scampi, fish tacos, and beet salads.
